Ansomone® HGH

Ansomone® is manufactured by Anhui Anke Biotechnology (Group) Co., Ltd. China, and contains sterile lyophilized formulation of E. coli derived Recombinant Human Growth Hormone (191 amino acid sequence HGH), identical to the natural growth hormone in amino acid sequence and three-dimension structure. Ansomone® comes in 10IU Ansomone® HGH vials

GH secretion has many direct and indirect effects on the human body. Firstly, it stimulates liver to produce IGF-1. Also, GH promotes muscle growth, fat reduction and weight loss; is able to increase energy and stamina and reduce effects of stress. In addition, it improves sexual vitality, memory function, mental alertness, immunity and is also known for its positive effects against aging. Ansomone® exerts the same actions to that of endogenous human growth hormone.

Ansomone® can stimulate proliferation and differentiation of epiphysis chondrocytes, promote growth of cartilage matrix cells, stimulate proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts; and accelerate the liner growth rate and improve epiphysis width. Ansomone® can promote protein synthesis in whole body; reverse the negative nitrogen equilibrium caused by wounds and surgery; correct the hypoproteinemia due to severe infection or hepatocirrhosis; stimulate synthesis of immune globin and proliferation of lymphadenoid, macrophage and lymphocyte, thus enhance the ability of infection resistance; stimulate proliferation of collagenocytes, fibroblasts and macrophages in sites of burn and surgery, thus accelerate wound healing; promote synthesis of cardiocytes and improve cardiac contractility as well as reduce cardiac oxygen consumption; it can regulate lipometabolism, and depress serum cholesterol and low density lipoprotein levels; complement insufficiency or deficiency of growth hormone, regulate adult lipometabolism, osteometabolism, as well as heart and kidney functions.

It is reported that the equal pharmacological effect could be achieved via subcutaneous or intramuscular administration. Even though sc may lead a higher concentration of GH in plasma, IM could also yield the same IGF-l level. The absorption of GH is the relatively slow, Cmax often occurs at 3-5 hours after injection. Clearance of GH is via liver and kidney, the half-life of clearance is about 2-3 hours. Uncatabolized GH excreted in urea is almost immeasurable. All of the GH in circulation exists as a complex form with GH binding proteins allowing prolonged half-life of GH.

Growth Hormone has many applications. Some are listed below:

  • In Growth Hormone Deficiency
  • Treatment for small gestational age (SGA) and intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR)
  •  Treatment for Idiopathic Short Stature
  • Used in AIDS Wasting and Cachexia
  • Treatment for Short Stature Caused by Turner's Syndrome and/or Prader-Willi Syndrome
  • Treatment for Growth Problems Caused by Short Bowel Syndrome
  • Improper Growth in Children with Renal Disease
  • Body Building Enhancement Drug
  • Weight Loss Drug
  • Anti-Aging Drug
  • Treatment for Children with Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis Treatment
  • Treatment for Children with X-Linked Hypophosphatemic Rickets (XLH)

In addition, GH is indicated to promote wound healing and to attenuate catabolic responses in severe burns, sepsis, multiple trauma, major operations, acute pancreatitis and intestinal fistula. Somatropin also has topical application to promote wound healing in acute wound or chronic ulcers, burns, diabetic foot ulcers, chronic venous ulcers and decubital ulcers.

Ansomone® is contraindicated in children with closed epiphyses, cancer patients with active neoplasia, in patients with brain tumours or intracranial lesions, and in patients in acute shock stage with severe infection.

Warnings and precautions

Treatment with Ansomone® should be monitored by a qualified physician.

  • In diabetic, patients insulin dosage may need to be adjusted
  • For patients whose GHD is due to encephaloma or encephalic wound, the progress and relapse possibility of potential diseases should be closely monitored
  • In ACTH-deficient patients, dosage of ATCH should be adjusted since the growth improvement effect of rhGH can be inhibited by simultaneous use of ACTH
  • Thyroid function should be monitored closely due to an increased risk for clinical hypothyroidism during rhHGH therapy
  • If a patient is suffering from chronic renal insufficiency the renal function must be tested. The treatment should be terminated after renal transplantation.
  • Possible side effects should be considered in patients over 60 years of age
  • Prolonged treatment in adults should be closely monitored for any possible adverse side effects
  • Ansomone® should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women

Dosage and administration

The dosage should be determined by your doctor and depends on body weight/surface and cause of GHD deficiency:

  • In paediatric GHD treatment a dose of 0.1~0.15IU/kg body weight is recommended via daily subcutaneous administration
  • In Turner’s syndrome: a dose of 1.0 IU/kg body weight/week is recommended
  • In chronic renal insufficiency: a dose of approximately 1 IU/kg body weight/week is recommended. Higher doses may be needed if growth velocity is too slow; after 6 months of treatment dose may need to be tailored according to response or any side effects
  • In adult GHD an initial dose for about four weeks of 0.125 IU/kg body weight/week is recommended.
  • To treat severe burns or multiple injuries dose of 0.2~0.14IU/kg body weight daily via subcutaneous administration for 2 weeks is recommended

The weekly dose should be divided into 7 subcutaneous injections. The injection site should be varied to prevent lipoathrophy.

Adverse reactions

Growth hormone may cause transient hyperglycemia (reversible). Adverse reactions occurred in about 1% of children with short stature during clinical trial. Common adverse reactions include slight pain, tingle, turgescence around the injection site and peripheral edema, arthralgia. All of which occured at the beginning of treatment, were temporal and tolerable. Some patients may develop anti-HGH antibodies after long-term high dosage administration of rhGH. However, the antibody concentration can rarely reach 2 mg/L (significant for therapeutic efficiency).

Instructions for Use and Handling

Lyophilised powder should be reconstituted with a suitable solvent: dissolved gently, with a slow, swirling motion. Do not shake vigorously to prevent denaturation of the active ingredient.

The powder form has a shelf life of 24 months if stored at 2-8°C, or for one month if kept at room temperature. Once reconstituted, should be stored at 2-8°C for 48hours, away from direct light. Do not freeze.
